Privacy, Permissions & Digital Footprints
I can't say this was my favorite project, but it did open my eyes to what teachers are facing in regard to social media. It's a tricky situation, and no policy could please everyone involved.
My initial feeling was to advise teachers not to post any "incriminating" content on their personal social media sites, but my wise partners, who are currently teaching, warned me that authoritative attitude would cause a staff uproar. So it was decided that we would take a laissez-faire approach to teachers' personal social networking activity, apart from advising them not to "friend" or "follow" students.
It was interesting and heartening to learn about the laws in place to protect student privacy. There is a lot to consider, and no one has all the answers. I hope we came close:-)
