District Technology Rollout
For this project, I was fortunate enough to be paired with a technology coordinator who was involved in an actual rollout of a 1:1 laptop
program six years ago. Her preK-12 private school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been named an Apple Distinguished School for three years in a row. Although the school serves students as young as prekindergarten, the rollout really only applied to those in grade 2 and higher, as the younger students share devices.
I learned a lot from writing this rubric with Katy. There were many considerations I never would have considered, from wifi fiber/cables all the way down to bags and tags for the students' devices. This project confirmed that my strong points are more in the student and staff training than the hardware, software and such.
