21st Century Curriculum
I really enjoyed this project. Like the podcast, it was another opportunity for me to get creative with something that could benefit my son and other children whose parents wish to expose them to various cultures and religions. I based my digital learning experience on a video I produced for EdTech 597 (Intro to Edutainment). It was great to be able to expand on the very abbreviated content of that video and create a true learning experience that delves deeper into those cultural celebrations of spring.
I was having a hard time coming up with an authentic task through which students could demonstrate their learning. And then--BAM--it hit me ... they could throw a party! Planning a party around one of these spring rituals or celebrations would require students to collaborate in researching the tradition, using technology to create an e-invitation, and addressing an authentic audience--the classmates attending their real-life party! I only wish I had a class in which to make this happen.

Celebrating Spring in Many Colorful Ways

Students work in groups to plan a party around the spring festival of their choice and create an online invitation, inviting their classmates to what will be an actual party they will host in class.
